Yossef S. Ben-Porath describes how his “village” consists of his parents, mentors, colleagues, and students. Their various roles are described in this chapter. Many of those mentioned are also treasured friends. He explains how he owes the successes he has experienced to the support of his family, mentioned briefly in the closing sentences and sad epilogue of this chapter.
