ABSTRACT

This chapter describes Irving B. Weiner’s life and career. It details how in 2004 he was invited by the Journal of Personality Assessment to write a personal and professional autobiography. It was published in 2005 with the title “The Shifting Sands of a Professional Identity.” This title signified shifts from his beginning career as a Psychiatry Department psychologist, then becoming a Psychology Department faculty member, then a university administrator, and then back to being a Psychiatry Department psychologist. What follows is a brief reprise of these earlier events, as elaborated in the 2005 autobiography, and a report of his late-life career developments since his faculty retirement in 2004.
