ABSTRACT

This chapter analyses three projects that emerged from a collaboration between the Department of Performing Arts at the University of Grenoble-Alpes and the University Hospital Centre in France. The three projects discussed here cover the field of ‘medical performances’: simulation-based medical education, artistic projects with patients and performances that represent medical experiences. The chapter questions the position in these projects as an interdisciplinary mediator who comes from the field of dramaturgy. The assumption is that the practice of dramaturgy is the ideal place for mediation in projects linking the world of theatre and the world of medicine, because it is precisely the right tool for an interdisciplinary exchange. The chapter analyses the dramaturgical practices implemented in these projects to show how a shared dramaturgy is practised between artists and caregivers around the construction of fictions.
