ABSTRACT

During the late 2000s, there have been changes in the business world. Advances in information and communication technologies, as well as the increase in the self-employed workforce, led to the growth in coworking as an alternative to traditional office spaces. The coworking system is a new trend for the workplace setting, enabled by the digitalised economy. Coworking spaces are major players in the sharing economy where freelancers, remote workers, and independent professionals share office spaces and resources to form a community where they can collaborate and learn from each other. This chapter aims to explain the benefits of the selected coworking spaces operating in the sharing economy of an emerging country, namely Turkey. The three main benefits of the coworking spaces are stated as functional, recreational, and networking and community building benefits.
