ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors consider possible future trajectories for blended learning at all levels of education. Although projections are uncertain at best, it seems clear that the evolving technological landscape will play an increasingly important role in education’s future by displacing previously held assumptions about effective student learning. Our understanding of the shape of knowledge will be impacted by increasing complexity, research asymmetry, and difficulties with long-term predictions. Throughout the chapter, the authors also acknowledge uncertainties caused by the current and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the one certain conclusion is that blended learning will play a pivotal role in worldwide education.
