ABSTRACT

Family support and access to family networks can help young people improve their job search and employment outcomes. This paper provides an analysis of the role of families in supporting Qatari youth as they transition from school to work. The empirical findings suggest that the use of family networks is an important contributor in helping young people who are looking for work to find a job. However, family networks were not found to be associated with the likelihood that a young person would join the public or private sector. The chapter concludes by discussing the policy implications of the findings and highlighting areas for future research.
