ABSTRACT

The inter-subjective is something that exists within the communication network linking the subjective consciousness of many individuals. If a single individual changes his or her beliefs, or even dies, it is of little importance. The impact of the ossification of discourse in America is enormous, but there is much that instructional and other communication scholars can do to place people in conversation with each other, with huge consequences for civic society. There are many practical uses of empathy, a toolbox, of which the following three are the most crucial ones for deepening intercultural relationships among human beings around the world. For the purposes of empathetic literacy, the Stoics expressed explicitly a technique of bringing about a happy condition that prepares the human soul for acceptance of the other. Talking to strangers can also become a public conveyor of meaning in our lives, as well as a kind way of humanizing the other.
