ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I address the kinds of dilemmas that present themselves at the interface between different actors involved in the implementation of social policy, particularly regarding the participation of the private sector. I base my analysis on the case of PROIIF, a Program for Financial Inclusion, which was part of the last Conditional Cash Transfer Program (PROSPERA) implemented in Mexico. My aim is to discuss the ways in which social development policy tunes in with financialization processes that intertwine with the local circulation of money and resources.
