Language, health, and learning in adult English classrooms

In this chapter, we examine the importance of adult English classrooms as sites where learners can practice new skills for healthcare decision-making and build connections with others around shared concerns. With the increasing complexity of the U.S. healthcare system, we also consider new challenges and opportunities facing adult English programs in their efforts to support transformative changes in learners’ lives.
