ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the impact of changing government policies in the province of Ontario, Canada on the employment of individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) by using community-supported enterprise (CSE) methods of financing. It specifically examines policies affecting not-for-profit organizations and Social Enterprises (SEs). Not-for-profit SEs are supported by the communities they represent or where they operate so are CSEs. A critical disability studies lens is used to examine the communities of support and how local geographical communities support organizations that employ individuals with IDD.
