ABSTRACT

There are moments in history when literature and society meet to draw strength from each other and seek in it meaningful coexistence. The two are indeed not separate but intertwined and mutually helpful for a critical bonding. In each, a constant vigil is kept on elements that are active in them. The living factors of human existence strike root in each case because practices of choice from available options produce an ever-refreshing and dynamic growing up. In context of literary thought, this essay looks at the present world from the human-social angle and attempts a view of knowing and appreciating. This might facilitate an inquiry into an enriched creativity so essential in our troubled times.
