ABSTRACT
In this chapter, the authors take the opportunity to highlight the cutting-edge information on biodiversity, and species extinction governance, accounting and finance discussed by a wide array of academics and industry experts throughout this book. However, they have selected some of the pertinent points and summarise the overall thrust of current trends and movements across the financial markets in the biodiversity and species space. The financial services industry is in the middle of a data storm. Pandora’s Box has been opened: by the extinction crisis, by climate change and by the global pandemic. As the perpetrators of the crisis, financial institutions and businesses must be involved in addressing the extinction crisis and improving the ecological health of a planet and an environment.
