ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the guideline for a firm to assess its technological capabilities and determine the strategic areas needed for the future development by linking the technological capability assessment with the scenario analysis. The proposed guideline consists of seven steps: determining technological capability dimensions, assessing a current level of technological capability, developing strategic scenarios, prioritizing the importance of each dimension according to the scenario, setting a desired level of technological capabilities, measuring technological capability gaps, and proposing a development direction to bridge the gaps. A case example is also included in the chapter to demonstrate the use of the guideline.
