ABSTRACT
In the United States the number of investors in large businesses has been increasing rapidly. The number of stockholders in General Motors Corporation, for example, increased 27 % between January 1, 1955 and June 1956 to a total of 621,000. General Electric Company had a 22% increase in the average number of stockholders in 1955 as compared with 1954.
