ABSTRACT
This interview emanates from the authors’ long friendship with Mr. Calzada, and their abiding interest in how his life and his artwork symbolize so many aspects of exilic pilgrimage. In these long conversations with Calzada, which took place within his home-studio in southwest Miami during the spring and summer of 2019, the manner in which his life and his art epitomize what exile represents are variously revealed.
