ABSTRACT

While stressing the significance of community networking in fostering solidarity within the community, the central question that the chapter addresses is, how is it instrumental to achieve cohesive development? This question is addressed within the broader framework of social capital and morality. The intensive field survey being conducted in four villages in India in different ecological contexts shows how community networking works. The chapter shows how it plays vital role in bringing about changes to individual lives and overall transformation in the community. The chapter finally argues why initiative must be taken to develop a critical understanding of how to sustain community networking so that cohesive development can come about.
