ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide an overview of the use of digital tools in social work settings and social work research. The intervention examples range from physical and mental health to case management and violence prevention as well as from traditional services augmented with apps to completely automated self-help apps. This scoping review outlines the areas of study and describes how digital tools are being applied in social work settings and research. Doing so provides an overview of the state of the science in intervention-based digital social work practice and research. This chapter ends with recommendations for including social workers in the development and implementation of technology-based interventions.
