ABSTRACT

James Andrew French died on Thursday, 13th December 1934. He was held in the highest esteem by his profession, and by a wide business circle in the city. He was a man of sterling qualities, honourable and upright in all his dealings, loyal to his friends and just to all. With a keen intellect, an alert mind and a shrewd business sense, his advice and counsel were much sought after. As a Director of several public and many private companies, his services were highly appreciated by his colleagues on the Boards, and one of his personal activities was as a Member of the Board of Governors of Kelvinside Academy. James French took a very active part in the affaire of both the Chartered Accountants Institute and the Students’ Society in Glasgow, being at one time a member of the Institute Council and holding office as President and Honorary President of the Glasgow Chartered Accountants Students’ Society.
