ABSTRACT

James Leitch was born in 1905. He was indentured with Grahams Rintoul Hay Bell and Company, Chartered Accountants, and was admitted to membership of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1928. In 1929, he joined Deloitte Plender Griffiths and Company, Chartered Accountants, in London. Between 1958 and 1970, Leitch was appointed to the board of directors of this company and its main subsidiaries. In 1970, he retired as Comptroller and in 1972 retired from all business activities. Leitch served on several committees of the Scottish Institute, and during the 1950s he gave several papers relating to the problems of accountants in industry.
