ABSTRACT

This chapter is somewhat of an experiment. It is composed of a series of short, daily logs. They are roving rather than systematic. They are certainly not comprehensive. They develop no linear argument, idea, or intervention. They are more or less unfinished, which I hope will be an invitation to readers rather than a source of frustration. Having said that, they are intentional. They focus on topics and debates that are foundational to my understanding of ecofeminism and the animal world. Each entry, that is, draws on a fieldwork event, archival material, or scholarly work - particularly those authored by thinkers who specialize in feminist, postcolonial, critical race, and queer theory - that mark watershed moments in my own learning and unlearning. With each entry, I attempt to think across categories of humanity and animality in order to reimagine dominant social constructions of “nature” and its political and ethical entailments.
