ABSTRACT
The present essay is essentially an exposition of certain salient themes in economics and is intended as an introduction, for the non-specialist reader, to the subjects of the market in economic analysis, game theory, and two classic indictments of the phenomenon of famine by two persons who, without qualifying for the strict label of ‘economists,’ nevertheless contributed profoundly to the discipline.
