ABSTRACT

The emphasis of this chapter is on evaluating individuals with ASD and designing evidence-based interventions to improve the child’s overall participation in daily occupations. The core features of ASD and their relationship to sensory processing challenges across the lifespan are discussed. The chapter covers the evaluation and intervention process of children with ASD, discusses evidence-based treatment approaches, and provides examples of blending different treatment approaches for optimal outcomes. The RAM data-based clinical reasoning model is used to exemplify these concepts in a case study.
