ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how principles of sensory integration (SI) can be combined with other approaches in early intervention. A systematic approach to assessment and intervention planning is presented. The assessment approach identifies high-priority areas for early intervention. The treatment approach blends sensory integration with neurodevelopmental treatment and relationship-based interventions for family-centered care. The Reasoning in Action (RAM) model is presented through a case study of a young child to guide clinicians in the selection and blending of intervention approaches.
