ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the implications of the US–China trade war on India through its participation in global value chains. It examines the trading pattern of India over the period 2008 to 2017 to identify the key trading partners and products in its goods trade. The USA is the largest destination for Indian exports, while China is India’s largest source of imports. The Broad Economic Categories classification is used to characterise India’s exports and imports, and particularly the importance of intermediate goods in its trade basket.
