ABSTRACT
The authors note that when someone having a mental health crisis comes to the attention of an acute care team, there is often an opportunity for immediate therapeutic intervention as well as assessment, risk management, and possible referral. They describe how such services were implemented at Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services (MSAHHS) in Brisbane, Australia. They emphasize that a key to successful implementation involves responding to the needs of both clinicians and managers in their work context.
