ABSTRACT

This chapter serves as an introduction to The Business of Cannabis, explaining the background and qualifications of its authors, its purpose, what readers will learn, as well as the limitations of the scope of the book and the challenges faced in writing it. In the introduction, the gold rush mentality of cannabis is explored, and the realities of a challenging regulatory landscape are introduced. The chapter also sets up the three-part structure of the rest of the book – first the overarching legal structure, then key topics within cannabis law, and finally more practical advice on getting deals done in the cannabis space.
