ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book reviews the literature on the impact of a variety of home and host country factors and explains how they might influence the adaptation of Human Resource Management (HRM) in subsidiaries of multinational enterprise (MNEs) from emerging economies operating in advanced economies. It explores the various contextual factors influencing the choice of HRM policies and practices in emerging market multinationals (EMMs) in China. The book argues that blue-collar employees should be recognised at Emerging market MNEs (EMNEs) for their potential involvement in designing and implementing organisational and HRM ambidexterity strategies and the need to acknowledge its dysfunctionalities. It offers an insight into knowledge transfer through understanding how to open workspaces' layout from social and spatial proximity and virtual spaces from a digital proximity perspective in Mexican firms.
