ABSTRACT

Workforce localisation/nationalisation correspond to a set of policies aiming to the recruitment and development of local citizens skills to increase their employability and their participation among the workforce and thus reducing a country's dependency on foreign labour. United Arab Emirates (UAE) have initially witnessed the establishment of foreign Multinational comapanies (MNCs) in the oil industry through partnership with the local government. In the past few decades, research related to strategic human resource management has been widely conducted at the organisational level to investigate how bundles of HR practices influence organisational outcomes with a focus on organisational performance. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is a wholly state-owned corporation established in 1971. The company's headquarter is located in Abu Dhabi where almost 95% of the UAE's oil reserves are located. ADNOC has taken a long-term approach to build the capabilities of the local workforce.
