ABSTRACT

Everyone commenced work on the project with drive and focus that, to different degrees, was soon impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic that, while devastatingly global, was especially dangerous to certain groups, one of which was disabled people. For a poignant moment, in some parts of the world, it may have seemed like coronavirus would mark the end of disability history. Considered decades ago in critical theory, the end of history is a provocation made about the triumph of equality over prestige, governmental democracy over communism and fascism. As the first lockdown was considered to be nearing its end; however, the apparent appreciation of personal narratives of disability soon began to fade. The new normal is just another myth, which is to say a lie, belief in which amounts to denial of the very lived reality of disability that, in fact, defines the truth of all humanity.
