ABSTRACT

Moral Education is one of the six subjects of social studies in Malaysia’s education system. Moral Education is offered to non-Muslim students only, while Muslim students are offered Islamic Education subjects. Chapter 8 has described the background of Malaysia and the history of Moral Education in particular. In this chapter, the explanation is on ‘noble character’ as the main concept in Moral Education. It will explain the implementation of the subject in the classroom during school sessions as well as the challenges for teachers in shaping ‘noble character’. The final section summarizes the role of stakeholders in ensuring the shaping of ‘noble character’ in the Malaysian context.
