ABSTRACT
I met Andrew after I was accepted into the Psychoanalytic Studies program as his student. I’d already begun my research and apparently was the first transfer student into the program. I came from the University of Lancaster (even though I’m American). After over a year of work there, researching the Greek god Pan, my plan to defect began when one of the members on my committee wanted to know why I wanted to use mythology in a psychological study. Rather than ask him if he had ever heard of the Oedipus myth, I decided I needed to find a supervisor who knew more than I did. At this, I certainly succeeded.
