ABSTRACT

Christianity claims that one day redeemed human persons will be saved from evil and death by being resurrected to a glorious everlasting life. These individuals shall be healed by God, and placed in everlasting communion with God and the rest of the redeemed. These Christian claims give rise to a variety of issues within the philosophy of time. In particular, this raises questions about personal identity over time. This chapter introduces readers to basic issues with regard to the ontology of time, personal identity over time, and life after death. It then argues that Christians should adopt presentism and endurantism, and reject four-dimensionalist theories of identity over time and eternalist ontologies of time.
