ABSTRACT

I was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1934. A product of the public school system there, I went on to Harvard College in 1951, graduating in 1955.1 was very naive about many things, coming out of Brooklyn. The first time I saw Boston was when I arrived there that September for my freshman year. It was a very different world from what I knew. A very exciting, very enchanting world and one that I came to be very comfortable with and grew, in fact, to love. I’ve not strayed far from Harvard ever since.
