ABSTRACT

□Rushworth Kidder's checklist for ethical decision making is recommended as an addition to the existmg canon of models for mass media ethics. Contributions in Kidder's approach include his dichotomy between ethical dilemmas and moral temptations, his tests for right-versus-wrong and right-versus-right issues, his framework by which to clarify values in ethical dilemmas, and his seqiiencing of the decision-making process. Kidder's model is summarized and discussed, revisions are suggested for classroom use in media ethics courses, and the revised model is applied to media ethics cases.
