ABSTRACT

During rectification, Wang Shiwei consulted Pan Fang and Zong Zheng over articles opposing the leaders and party efforts to oppose erroneous tendencies by publishing the wall newspaper at the Central Research Institute. Cheng and Wang should clearly be aware of the seriousness of their antiparty faults and that they cannot separate themselves from Wang Shiwei, Pan Fang, and Zong Zheng. The disease of liberalism has increased among some older cadres due to their lack of correct understanding concerning inner-party struggle and the effect of the ambience of the United Front after the start of the anti-Japanese war. Old party members count for only a small percentage. Moreover, the majority of new members come from farmer and petty bourgeois backgrounds. Inner-party life should be political and principled. It's erroneous to separate problems in inner-party life from considerations of politics and principle.
