ABSTRACT

The Trotskyite faction existed during the anti-Japanese war era. At that time, the Trotskyite label referred to those anti-CCP and antirevolutionary gangs who were extreme leftists, fabricated rumors, instigated conflicts between our comrades, and destroyed overall anti-Japanese unity. Wang Shiwei acted differently during the early period of rectification when, suffering from tuberculosis, he seldom appeared. Wang Jiaxiang of the Central Social Department sent somebody to the Central Research Institute and asked the author to make a report about Wang Shiwei's behavior at the Institute, including his "Wild Lilies" and other articles he had published in Arrow and Target. The forum on Democracy and Discipline in the Party held at the Institute was actually a meeting to criticize Wang Shiwei. Fan Wenlan presided over the forum. In reality, the forum was directly led by Kang Sheng and Yang Shangkun. Kang attended a few times.
