ABSTRACT

The first presenter was Dr Joyce Kovelman of California who explained briefly the Millennium Project. She then offered various suggestions as to what the UN and NGOs could do to achieve the present and enlarged goals of the UN. The second presenter was Alison Williams, representing the Teilhard Centre in London. This Centre is an educational charity with an international outreach through its membership and subscribers to its house journal, The Teilhard Review: Journal of Cosmic Convergence. Alison Williams described Teilhard de Chardin’s philosophy of purposeful evolution, motivated by Love and with unity-in-Love as its ultimate goal. She said that the values and purposes of the UN Charter represent a major step forward in this direction. The goals of peace, justice, social progress and freedom for all have been accepted by nearly all of the world’s nations on behalf of their peoples.
