ABSTRACT

This chapter presents sampled and remixed versions of answers given by the author to various email interviews. Leading an activist online life and maintaining one's Web presence by such activities as creating net art sites, writing for popular online journals, and participating in email lists and forums have enabled the author to build a distributed audience for his work. These activities, in turn, have led to numerous opportunities to share his ideas and some of the details of his personal journey to a wide array of readers across the planet. If new models of professional development in academia are to take hold and offer innovative opportunities to artists, writers, and scholars, then one of the first things that may have to go by the wayside is conventional, argumentative essay writing. This does not mean we need to abandon the notion of rhetoric altogether and, in fact, may open the field up to creative new possibilities.
