ABSTRACT

The Interpersonal Communication Satisfaction Inventory, a unidimensional self-report instrument, was developed in a series of stages. The fulfillment of these expectations through interaction results in communication satisfaction. The Corn-Sat Inventory has been used rather extensively across the communication discipline and to a lesser extent in related fields such as health and psychology. The extensive and varied use of the Corn-Sat Inventory suggests that satisfaction is a salient concern in the communication discipline. Regardless, because there are few other criterion or outcome variables identified in the literature, the Corn-Sat Inventory will likely be chosen for research in the future. Various researchers employed the Corn-Sat Inventory and reported coefficient alphas ranging from.72 to.93. Although the Corn-Sat Inventory is widely used, only one article has purposefully reviewed or investigated the validity of the instrument since the measure was first introduced in 1978.
