ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the concepts of giftedness and creativity in Slavic psychopedagogy and its cultural background manifested in philosophical, anthropological, and artistic discourse. It emphasizes the specific contribution Slavic cultures can provide to the world community of social scientists. Data research analysis is displayed on two levels. First, the chapter analyzes science about giftedness and creativity—psychoeducational discourse, searching for Slavic components in the conceptions of giftedness. Second, it explores similarities between psychoeducational standpoints with the broader cultural field, analyzing related concepts from other discourses of knowledge (linguistic, ethnological, mythological, philosophical, anthropological, and artistic), relevant for understanding human nature, creative production, and giftedness. All Slavs retained their languages, belonging to the same language family, which is derived from an ancient Slavic language. Identification was done spontaneously at children’s contests for best works and at competitions—Olympiads of knowledge that were up to the state level as in other Slavic countries.
