ABSTRACT
The Ludwig-Frank Housing Co-operative provides an innovative example of how a dilapidated residential area, housing a multicultural population from 15 different countries, could be upgraded. The foundation of a new co-operative was seen as critical for the transformation of the district into an attractive area. Its lessons are applicable as a model for many parts of the world.
