ABSTRACT

This chapter analyzes public private partnerships for sustainable development using the example of the Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Development (GAID). With the greater goals of achieving international civil-society progress, globalcrises prevention, and societal-deficiencies alleviation, the UN GAID international platform was aimed at cross-sectoral solution-finding and policy dialogue on ICT for development. Regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an additional follow-up analysis was staged given contents that were presented during the 2016 International Conference on Sustainable Development hosted at Columbia University and The New School in New York City. The chapter therefore also includes a recent analysis of ICT for development in light of the SDGs that lie at the heart of the UN 2030 Agenda including goals to end extreme poverty, fight inequality, and build peaceful societies on a healthy planet.
