ABSTRACT

This chapter is a comprehensive reference manual providing information on the Neurobehavioral Functioning Inventory, which is a self and informant rating scale, which evaluates the frequency of “a wide spectrum of postinjury behaviors and symptoms commonly encountered in daily life”. It was developed for adolescents and adults with traumatic brain injury, and the manual advises that it is also appropriate for other neurological conditions. A brief history of the instrument's development is provided, along with a description of item content and administration/scoring procedures. Psychometric properties are reviewed and a critical commentary is provided. Key references are cited and in most cases the actual scale is included, giving the reader easy access to the instrument.
