ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to demonstrate that the comprehensive transitional justice system created by the Colombian Peace Agreement complies with international law, as it aims to ensure investigation, prosecution, and sanction of mass atrocities, as well as to ensure that victims’ rights are satisfied. The first section of this article describes Colombia’s international obligations and the application of these in the context of a transition from armed conflict to peace. The second part explores the Comprehensive System of Truth, Justice, Reparation, and Non-Repetition, and analyzes its compatibility with international law.
