ABSTRACT
The final chapter in the book looks at how the cost of college is preventing rural students from attending and what can be done to help students overcome this hurdle. The chapter begins with four student case studies that highlight the financial struggle of attending college. Even though the cost of college keeps increasing, there are resources to help students pay for college. The chapter provides tips that can be used by CCR advisors to support students. The author debunks many myths about financial aid and provides factual information for students, such as a glossary of financial aid terms and an overview on how to read a financial aid package. The chapter concludes with lessons that can be applicable to students to ensure that they do not let the cost of college keep them from achieving their dreams.
