ABSTRACT

Home advantage (HA) has been widely investigated in team sports, but there is no solid evidence on its effect in racket sports. This chapter tries to discuss this plausible effect in different racket sports (table tennis, tennis and badminton), as well as, to provide new evidence on the HA effect in elite badminton and tennis (2019 ATP Tour Masters-1000) tournaments in men’s single matches. These analyses showed only for home players an increased performance at the BWF China Super-750. Therefore, the HA does not seem to determine performance during men’s singles tournaments in badminton and tennis.
