ABSTRACT

Golf is a sport with very particular characteristics in relation to some of the main factors associated with home advantage (HA) in sport. These characteristics include type of competition, familiarity with the playing field (golf course), crowd effects, or referee bias. However, the existing HA literature in golf is very scarce. This chapter reviews the published literature and provides updated data on the HA effect in golf. The chapter ends with suggestions for the incorporation of more variables to the study of the HA in golf, which can be considered as one of the most attractive sports for future research on this topic.
