ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to explore the development of research in home advantage (HA) through bibliometric analysis and science mapping tools in order to provide a global picture of the HA phenomenon in sport from a historical perspective in terms of scientific progress. For this purpose, five main research questions were addressed: (i) what is the volume and annual trend of publication in HA literature, (ii) who are the most prominent authors in HA research, (iii) what journals have evidenced more interest in publishing HA research, (iv) what is the geographic distribution of the HA literature around the world in terms of international collaboration and (v) what are the hottest research topics in the HA field of research. The findings made in this bibliometric analysis could contribute to a better understanding of how academic researchers have combined their efforts to explore this vibrant topic from multiple perspectives.
