ABSTRACT

While BIAPT Ireland is yet in a nascent stage of our fellowship, we viewed the opportunity to contribute to the present volume as a generative moment. That is, we believed it was a chance to come together using a Meitheal model, 2 or paradigm of friendship in action, to do practical theology, dialogically, together. Our conversations in preparing these reflections have been rewarding in a number of ways, not least from the perspective of enabling us to develop cross-border, inter-denominational, inter-generational, inter-institutional, and inter-personal understanding and appreciation. They provided us with the opportunity to explore ‘what is’, ‘what might be’, and ‘what ought to be’ the field of practical theology on the island.
