ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book directly addresses potential transformations in the human genome. It deals with the questions: What shapes and forms are human-technology co-evolution now taking in regards to reproduction? How do we deal ethically with the endless possibilities it presents? Will we create genetically enhanced meta-humans? The book examines the dark and dire implications of futuristic reproductive technologies, their ethical and unethical uses, and the remarkable optimistic options they hold for increasing fertility and for better birthing. The world of reproductive health, and particularly that of genetic engineering, is developing exponentially, and current challenges are vastly different from those of a decade ago.
